<image:title>Teaching in China - My first teaching visit took place over the Christmas/New Year's holiday, 1980-81. The students in the International Politics Department at Fudan University were among the most enthusiastic and talented that I have taught during my career. Many have gone on to distinguished careers in China and the United States. On my right in this photograph is Professor Wang Guoming, who was instrumental in building the Department of International Politics at Fudan University.</image:title>

<image:title>Professional and Community Activity - I also volunteer with Charlie's Place, which serves homeless neighbors in the Washington, DC. I encourage you to donate and to volunteer. I am married to a former computer scientist turned professional musician and composer. Music, especially classical music, is an important part of our lives. Please support your local arts organizations; the pandemic has been a major setback for the arts community. In my spare time, I work at creating a woodland garden in the small space in front of my home in Washington, D. C. A reminder that il faut cultiver notre jardin.</image:title>
